BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeneyannounced today, February 22, that the team has acquired a 2018 third-round draft pick from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Frank Vatrano.
Sweeney will be available to the media ‪on Saturday, February 24, at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON. Exact time and location will be announced at a later time.
Vatrano, 23, has appeared in 25 games with Boston in 2017-18, tallying two goals and 22 penalty minutes. He established career-highs in all offensive categories in 2016-17 with 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points with 14 penalty minutes in 44 games. The 5-foot-9, 201-pound winger also added one goal in six postseason games with Boston in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Vatrano skated in 39 games in his first season with Boston in 2015-16, recording eight goals and three assists for 11 points with 14 penalty minutes.

Vatrano led the American Hockey League (AHL) in goals in 2015-16, averaging one goal per contest with 36 tallies in 36 games. He had three hat tricks and six multi-goal games on the year at the AHL level, earning First-Team All-Star honors. Vatrano also added 19 assists for 55 total points with 22 penalty minutes and a plus-21 rating.
The East Longmeadow, Massachusetts native was originally signed by the Bruins as a free agent out of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on March 13, 2015.
